If you had to name a leader who inspires you, be it from politics, the corporate arena, perhaps from history or someone you would like to emulate, who would it be?  Is it a politician or statesman who stood up for what they believed in and created positive change, a thought leader who changed the world with ideas or an entrepreneur who envisaged and created a global empire?

​Do you admire Kennedy, Thatcher or Mandela, or in business, Branson, Gates or Roddick. What is it about them you admire? What draws you to them and makes you want to be like them? What do they have that attracts you to them?

Some of us lead with the head, others with the heart. But to be a successful leader, particularly when managing change, you need to be able to operate and communicate at both levels.  

​All too often change programmes over focus on the process and systems and neglect the people issues.  But the problem is when the processes and systems are in place, it's your people that have to operate them and if they are not bought into the change, it will fail.
